The process of designing and conceptualizing a new outfit for someone can sometimes be very complex and may require months before the project is launched. The first step in any new fashion trend or design is to determine the target audience, which may be the whole family, business community, or just the individuals concerned with the fashion design. Then the designing process starts.

The most important thing about fashion design is to consider the needs of the person buying the clothes. A person’s size, shape, height, weight, complexion, skin color, and personal preferences have to be taken into account before the clothes are designed. Sometimes it is very difficult to create clothes that will make anyone look good. But if the target is to make the clothes that will make anyone look their best, then the process is easier. One should try to put himself in the shoes of the customer and imagine what it would be like to wear the clothes designed by him.
